Dr. Sharmarke Mohamed

Dr. Sharmarke Mohamed (MSci, PhD, MRSC) is an academic with extensive research, teaching, mentoring, supervision and leadership experience within the higher education sector.

  • Author of 3 patents and over 20 high-impact peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters in the broad field of Crystal Engineering/Materials Chemistry.

  • He has established a laboratory focusing on supramolecular chemistry and the application of green mechanochemical methods for the synthesis of functionalized organic materials.

  • Dr. Mohamed has played a leading role in the development of new undergraduate BSc degree programs in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at KU.

  • He serves on the Board of Directors for the American Chemical Society (ACS) UAE Chapter 

  • Dr. Mohamed is a keen advocate of technology and data-driven approaches for enhancing assessment and learning
